A doula is:

an emotional support for a birthing woman. Birth can be a time of unknowns and questions as a woman’s body is changing and growing new life. This can be exciting and frightening all at once. A doula can provide emotional support with a listening ear and a warm heart, ready to help a birthing mama know she is supported, loved, and capable of this great task. A doula will help a birthing mother and her partner advocate for themselves while making informed and calm decisions.

a physical support for a birthing woman and her partner if she has one. Whether a woman has a partner in birth or not, a doula can provide a helpful role in physical support during labor. She may relieve the partner if they need a break, rest, or food. She may provide support in addition to the support the partner is giving.

As your doula, I will help you navigate this transitional time in becoming a mother. I see my role as a doula as malleable to what you need it to be. Part-time researcher, part-time cheerleader, part-time investigator, part-time confidant, part-time planner. I am happy to help all types of women: from those who have no idea what to expect and don’t really want to know much at all to those who already have a detailed birth plan from 20 weeks. A positive birth experience is the desired result and I would be honored to help you to achieve your peace.
